Alyana

Aly (she/her) was born in the Philippines and spent the early years of her childhood enjoying city life in the beautiful mountains of Baguio City. She briefly lived in Sydney, Australia as a toddler, but her family ultimately decided to settle in the United States. She moved to the California Bay Area in 2009 and has since found a beautiful home and community.

‍

She recently graduated from Middlebury College with a degree in History and Anthropology. Her time at Middlebury has provided her with many amazing opportunities, including doing research at the Harvard Radcliffe Institute, touring the tunnels of Capitol Hill, and practicing local journalism in Vermont. In the summer of 2025, Aly interned with the County of Monterey Office of Civil Rights, an experience that solidified her goal of pursuing a career in social impact. Although she will always be fond of her time in the Northeast, she could not be happier to be back in the Bay Area.

‍

As a DreamSF fellow, Aly is excited to develop her professional skills and be part of a tight-knit immigrant community. She is interested in law and public policy, and looks forward to learning more about how she can better serve others. Aly is placed at La Raza Centro Legal’s Affirmative Team, and she is ecstatic about learning more about immigration law. She looks forward to building her confidence and setting herself up for post-grad success.

‍

In her free time, you can find Aly at a cafe enjoying a matcha latte (and usually with a chocolate chip cookie) with a book in hand. She is passionate about movement and loves running, lifting, and attending spin class. If Aly could describe her life philosophy in three words they would be: joy, connection, and enrichment.
