Abraham Bojorquez was born in Sinaloa, Mexico but grew up in East Palo Alto and Redwood City, California. Having spent his childhood in Mexico and the U.S., this dual identity became a core part of Abraham’s childhood, shaping his interest in psychology and serving others.
Abraham graduated from University of California, Davis with a BA in Psychology and a minor in History. His long term goal is to become a licensed family therapist and serve as a role model for other Latino men working to overcome the stigma of accessing mental health support. He believes in treating people, not just symptoms. With this holistic approach to therapy at the center, Abraham hopes that he can make a difference for other people like him.
He has worked with organizations such as Peninsula Bridge, which support first-generation students on their paths to college.. During his time there, he saw first hand how many issues can become barriers to youth development. He is passionate about mental health and ensuring everyone has access to quality care so they can become the best versions of themselves.
For the DreamSF Fellowship, Abraham is placed at San Francisco Senior and Disability Action (SDA). He will support SDA in their mission to ensure that seniors and people with disabilities have access to proper housing, medical care and a variety of other needs are met.
In his free time, you will find Abraham going to San Francisco Giants games, spending time with his cat, Carlotta, hanging out with family, or getting lost in video games with his friends.
