Cinthia Diaz Calvo

Cinthia Diaz Calvo was born in Tabasco, Mexico and immigrated to the United States at the age of nine. Growing up in a household with all women, Cinthia was inspired by the independence, creativity and drive of her aunts, grandmother and mother to overcome with confidence the challenges of life.

Inspired by her mother’s perseverance of selling tamales and ice cream in order to make ends meet, Cinthia also persevered, determined to pursue higher education despite her undocumented status. Now, Cinthia has relocated to San Francisco and is working towards a degree in International Business. Upon graduation, Cinthia is determined to immerse herself in her culinary passions and start her own ice cream manufacturing and distribution business.

Cinthia is a DreamSF Fellow at La Cocina Kitchen Incubator, a non-profit organization whose mission is to support low-income immigrant entrepreneurs launch and grow their businesses in the food industry. Cinthia assists in the recruitment and outreach project at La Cocina by sharing resources and discovering potential entrepreneurially-minded clients. As a developing leader and aspiring entrepreneur, Cinthia is determined to use the knowledge she gains to build a sustainable business and give hope to her own underrepresented community.
