Cindy Rodriguez

This is some text inside of a div block.

Cindy Rodriguez is an aspiring legislative aide. Born in Jalisco, Mexico, she emigrated to California at the age of four. From a young age, she grew interested in her education and politics, thanks to the influence of her teachers and family discussions. In pursuit of her passions, Cindy graduated from San Francisco State University, where she earned a degree in Political Science.

Cindy’s passion for social justice and politics grew both from her experience as an undocumented immigrant and her experience as a Political Science student. Cindy has been an active agent in her community which has inspired her to continue to advocate for the most marginalized. In the past, she has hosted backyard fundraisers for homeless shelters in San Jose, CA. As a student, Cindy had the opportunity to represent service workers at Unite Here labor organization working in the boycott division, which enriched her understanding of organizing and income and wealth inequality in the United States. Most recently, Cindy has helped campaign for progressive candidates, helping with phone banking and literature drops.

As a DreamSF Fellow, Cindy will participate at Faith in Action Bay Area where she will support youth organizing in San Francisco. Outside of DreamSF, Cindy serves as a youth mentor for the PUENTE program for high school students, where she speaks to students about the importance of pursuing a higher education. These experiences coupled with her ongoing interest in various social issues has led Cindy to pursue a career in public service and become an advocate of her community. Her plans to explore a legislative aide position at a local level where she hopes to continue to learn about government, organizing, and advocating for the working class.

In her free time, Cindy enjoys spending time with family, going to backyard shows, listening to music and playing sports.
