Lizbeth

Born in Guanajuato, Mexico and raised in Sacramento, California, Lizbeth Vazquez grew up understanding the importance of hard work, pursuing a higher education, and achieving goals with kindness and resilience. She grew up understanding the sacrifice her parents had made to give her the opportunity of a life in California. As the eldest daughter, she continued setting the example her parents had set for her and her siblings. Lizbeth’s passion for service and helping others started young when she began volunteering at ten years old at a senior assisted living center. She continues seeking volunteer opportunities in her community.

‍

Lizbeth graduated from the University of California, Davis in 2026, with a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology and Chicanx Studies, and a minor in Education. During her time at Davis, she made the effort to continue having an active role in her community. In her second year, she interned at a Spanish immersion school, where she worked closely with students learning the English language. She joined the UC Davis College Corps her third year, supporting literacy and the critical thinking development of children. In her fourth year, she interned for Green Light GO, mentoring middle school students. She rejoined UCD College Corps and became an ambassador of the program.

‍

These various experiences in her undergraduate years allowed her to develop skills that can be applied personally and professionally. It fueled her passion for working with youth and allowed her to understand the importance of having representation and mentorship throughout the education system. Lizbeth hopes to pursue a career in either school psychology or family and marriage therapy.

‍

As a DreamSF Fellow, Lizbeth is placed at Dolores Huerta Elementary School. She assists the family resource center located at the elementary school by offering resources to families and supporting newcomer students. She is excited to learn more about the resources, the research involved in the organization, and the way she can create a safe environment for youth..

‍

In her free time, Lizbeth loves trying new things and experimenting with different hobbies. She loves to read and her favorite book is Violeta by Isabel Allende. She enjoys crocheting for her friends, watching movies and shows, spending time outdoors, and above all, spending time with her family.
