Pichamon "Pim" Parakul
Pichamon “Pim” Parakul was born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand. Her family migrated to the United States when she was 12 years old. Her family owns a small Thai restaurant in Petaluma, CA where Pim spent her after-school time waiting tables and helping her hard-working parents. Growing up, Pim watched her parents work tirelessly, and this motivated her to chase her own ambitions to become successful in life. Additionally, being undocumented has taught her to be appreciative of new professional development opportunities presented to her.
Pim is majoring in business administration with concentration in information systems at San Francisco State University. She has had a passion for working with technology in the business field since she was a teenager, dreaming of becoming an entrepreneur and opening her own business one day. On the other hand, she is proud to have been a part of the President’s Leadership Fellow program at her school, where she developed leadership and professional skills.
For the DreamSF fellowship, she is placed at Mission Asset Fund (MAF) where she works as an office coordinator. She assists MAF with operations, day-to-day tasks, event organizations and making sure that everything runs smoothly and effectively. Through working with MAF, Pim will get to build on her organizational skills as well as her understanding of the importance of financial health for communities historically marginalized from mainstream financial services.
Pim enjoys spending time with her family, exploring different types of food /restaurants and attending concerts in her free time. She values the importance of family and strongly believes in improving the lives of low-moderate income families in the immigrant community through building a strong financial health.
