Jennifer Martinez Perez was born and raised in Mexico City, Mexico. She was raised by her mother while her father was in San Francisco trying to provide for her family, later migrating there when she was 9 years old. She currently lives in San Francisco, CA and recently graduated from San Francisco State University with a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing.
Before transferring to San Francisco State, Jennifer attended Skyline College, where she obtained an associate’s in Business Administration. Jennifer was involved in various learning communities. She participated in the Puente learning community where she helped plan and organize events. She also provided a support system to help students overcome challenges of college life. She was also in CIPHER (The Center for Innovative Practices through Hip Hop Education & Research) where she fostered leadership development and creativity both in and out of the classroom. Jennifer also became a motivational speaker for EOPS (Educational Opportunities Programs and Services), where she shared her story in hopes of inspiring other students who were in the same position as her.
Jennifer’s long-term goal is to have a successful business while working as a marketer. She is currently in the process of launching her swimsuit line and hopes to inspire other undocumented students to become entrepreneurs. She wants to give back to the immigrant community by being a mentor to undocumented students, helping them reach their goals. As a DreamSF Fellow, Jennifer is placed with Mujeres Unidas y Activas (MUA), where she will be working with women who have experienced domestic violence. She hopes to apply her marketing skills in MUA and help with their upcoming campaigns. Jennifer is excited to meet and help powerful women around the Bay Area.
When Jennifer is not working, she loves snowboarding, working out, clothing styling her friends, and dancing. More than anything, she enjoys going on trips with family and friends.
